Terms & Conditions
These terms are here to make sure that you, your dog and Camel Valley Canines all know what to expect. I have kept them as clear and straightforward as possible.
1. About the service
Camel Valley Canines provides dog walking, puppy visits and evening pet sitting in Wadebridge and surrounding areas within approximately a 15-minute drive of Wadebridge, Cornwall.
Services, prices and any regular booking arrangements are agreed directly with the owner. The website does not take online bookings.
2. Meet & greet
A meet & greet at the dog's home is required before the first walk, visit or pet-sitting booking. This gives us an opportunity to meet, discuss your dog's routine and individual needs, and make sure the service is suitable.
I may decide that a particular service or group walk is not suitable for a dog if, after meeting them, I believe it would not be safe or appropriate for the dog, other dogs, people or property.
3. Owner responsibilities
To help me provide safe and appropriate care, the owner agrees to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information about their dog, including health conditions, injuries, medication, allergies, behavioural concerns, fears, triggers, bite history, recall and anything else that may affect their care.
- Tell me promptly if their dog is unwell, injured, showing unusual behaviour, or has been in contact with a contagious illness.
- Provide suitable, secure equipment for the agreed service, including a collar or harness and lead where required.
- Provide current contact details, an emergency contact and their preferred veterinary details.
- Provide clear instructions for accessing their home where a collection, puppy visit or pet-sitting service is required, and tell me about any alarms, gates or other relevant access arrangements.
- Ensure that their dog is legally permitted to be cared for or walked in the relevant circumstances and that any required vaccinations or preventative healthcare are maintained as appropriate for the dog's age and circumstances.
- Tell me about any changes to their dog's circumstances before a booking, rather than assuming I will already know.
4. Group walks
Group walks are limited to a maximum of four dogs in total. I will only include a dog in a group walk where I believe the arrangement is suitable for that dog.
If I feel a dog would be happier or safer walking alone, I may recommend a solo walk instead. If a dog's behaviour changes and a group walk is no longer appropriate, I may pause group walks for that dog and discuss suitable alternatives with the owner.
5. Cancellations and changes to individual bookings
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or change a booking. Where less than 24 hours' notice is given, the booking may still be chargeable if the time cannot reasonably be filled by another client. I will always consider genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances reasonably.
If I need to cancel a booking, I will give as much notice as reasonably possible and, where appropriate, discuss an alternative arrangement.
6. Regular recurring bookings and termination of services
A regular booking is a recurring walking slot agreed with the owner, for example the same day and time each week. Because that time is reserved specifically for the dog, regular arrangements need a little more notice to end.
Owners are asked to give four weeks' notice to cancel a regular recurring booking arrangement. During the notice period, the agreed regular bookings remain in place unless we agree otherwise.
I will also give four weeks' notice if I need to end a regular recurring arrangement wherever reasonably possible. I may end a service sooner where there is a serious welfare or safety concern, repeated non-payment, a significant breach of these terms, or another circumstance where continuing the service would not be reasonable or safe.
If an owner needs to end a regular arrangement immediately because of an unexpected and serious change in circumstances, please speak to me as soon as possible. I will consider the situation fairly and reasonably.
7. Weather and safety
Your dog's welfare comes first. In extreme heat, storms, flooding, ice or other conditions that make a planned walk unsuitable or unsafe, I may shorten, change, postpone or cancel the service. I will discuss alternatives with you where possible.
I may also change a walking route or location when needed to avoid hazards, livestock, unsafe ground, excessive heat or other risks.
8. Emergencies and veterinary care
If I believe your dog is unwell or injured, I will contact you or your emergency contact as soon as reasonably possible. If urgent veterinary attention is needed and I cannot reach you in time, I may seek veterinary assistance in your dog's best interests.
The owner remains responsible for veterinary and other costs arising from treatment, except where a cost is covered by an applicable insurance arrangement or where the law provides otherwise.
9. Keys, homes and access
Any keys, access codes or other arrangements provided to me will be used only for the agreed care of your dog. Please let me know promptly if access arrangements change.
For evening pet sitting and puppy visits, the owner is responsible for making sure I can safely access the property at the agreed time.
10. Evening pet sitting
Evening pet sitting is provided at the owner's or holiday accommodation's property and is charged at £20 per hour, with a minimum booking of two hours, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in advance.
The service is intended to provide companionship and care while the owner is out for the evening. Any specific feeding, medication or other care requirements should be discussed during the meet & greet.
11. Payment
Payment arrangements will be agreed when the service is booked. Please pay for services by the agreed date. If an invoice or payment request is not paid when due, I may pause future bookings until the account is brought up to date.
12. Your dog's belongings and equipment
I will take reasonable care of your dog's belongings and equipment while providing the service. Please provide equipment that is safe, secure and suitable for your dog. I cannot accept responsibility for ordinary wear and tear or for problems caused by equipment that is unsuitable, defective or already damaged, except where the law provides otherwise.
13. Our responsibilities
I will provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill and will treat your dog with kindness, patience and respect. I will follow the information and instructions you provide and will use reasonable judgement when circumstances change.
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any legal rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. Photos and social media
I may sometimes take photographs of dogs while they are enjoying their walks or visits. I will only use a dog's photograph for the Camel Valley Canines website, social media or promotional material where the owner has given permission. Owners can withdraw that permission by contacting me.
15. Ending a service
Either the owner or Camel Valley Canines may end an individual service arrangement. Where there is no regular recurring slot, reasonable notice should be given wherever possible.
I may end a service immediately where I reasonably believe continuing would present a serious safety or welfare risk, or where there has been a serious breach of these terms. I will explain the reason to the owner where it is appropriate and safe to do so.
16. Changes to these terms
If these terms need to change, I will give existing clients reasonable notice of any material change before it takes effect, unless a change is required urgently by law, safety or circumstances outside my reasonable control.
17. Questions or concerns
If you have any questions about these terms or are unhappy with any part of the service, please contact me first so that we can discuss the issue and try to resolve it fairly.
